I'm looking at you, 4 commenters...
My recap wasn't thorough enough for you? Alright fine, you asked for it.
Friday, June 17th I woke up in a tired haze. I can't remember that for a fact, but since I always do, it's a pretty good guess. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I then checked my phone messages and picked a wedgie.
At 9:00am Charlie and I ate breakfast. I believe it was... brown sugar and maple oatmeal.
We then watched the "Differences" episode of Yo Gabba Gabba.
NO WAIT! It was Apple and Cinnamon oatmeal. Shit. Let me start over.
Does that make you happier?
We're fighting now NicB, Dani, TJ and JMC. This is a call out.

::creeps back in sheepishly::
Oh, hey you guys. How's it been going for the past... 7 months or so? 7 MONTHS??? Wow. That's a long time. I could've gotten pregnant when I last posted and almost had a new baby by now.
I didn't, just to be clear. But I totally could've. If that was my thing.
So, just a quick catch up?
My kid turned 1
Christmas happened. Brobee was a hit!
Oh, and we got a cat.
That's Sprocket. We didn't think our house was chaotic enough as it was!
I'll try and be a LOT better about this whole blogging thing. But really, that would just entail me posting ... at all. So I'll do it! I swear.
I can't promise it'll be interesting though. I'm not a machine!
See you soon, whoever is reading this.

Charlie's got mad skillz, yo!
Angry, angry skills. That's right.
So, as you can see, I've been having fun with my iMovie! But I also wanted to show off my 9 month old's talents! That's right... I have a 9 month old. Which I can't really wrap my head around. In a couple of days he will have been outside as long as he was in my belly. MADNESS!
We haven't been too busy around here. Our kitchen renos have been put on hold as we've been waiting for the counter top to be cut. It's being installed next week and then the rest can proceed. Praise jebus. Living in the basement has been rough.
We haven't gone up to our cottage yet. We usually go every weekend in the summer, but I just haven't been able to work up the courage to pack up all the baby stuff, drive 1hr45min with the baby, and try and get him to sleep in a new place (with two other kids around). I know, grow some balls. I'm working on it.
But back to the video. Here he is, being all grown up and shizz. And adorable. Always adorable.

It's summertime!
In the past couple of days, it's become like a sauna outside. The humidity is intense, the sun is so strong - and I'm loving it. I don't understand Canadians that complain all winter about how AWFUL the snow and cold is and then complain about the heat. Will you EVERY BE HAPPY (faceless Canadians)??
Charlie's had a couple of firsts this week! He had his first "swim" in an outdoor pool!
He also had his first skinny dip! And then aired out in his stroller.
Tomorrow is his first time to a movie theatre! We're going to a "Parents with babies" matinee of Bridesmaids tomorrow with my sister, my mom, and my mother in law. I'm so excited for him to see the big screen, although kind of worried about how he'll do. He's constantly wanting to be on the floor, crawling, and pulling himself up lately that I can't imagine him just sitting there.
I hope he laughs at all the appropriate moments. Nothing worse than a baby with no sense of humour.
And even though I've shown this to everyone and their mothers, I'm going to post this video on here because it's ri-gosh-darn-diculously funny. Seriously... he could be a youtube sensation. Next up: Ellen.

Ok so my NEW excuse...
... is that I was in New York!
Ok, so only for the weekend, which gives me no excuse for the weeks I haven't posted. But just cut me a break people! Why you gotta be on my back all the time. GEEZ!
Our trip was amazing. It was just what we needed. We got to have some adult time, which was perfect. Oh and we saw Seth Meyers (from Saturday Night Live)! And he waved at us. Look!
So my timing was a little off on that picture. But we did see him, for real.
We went to a Broadway show, saw some stand up comedy, toured Manhattan in a boat and went to a Yankees/Mets game!
I think we pretty much covered all of our bases (you see what I did there?)
The kitchen work is still going on, and I feel like it's never going to end. But we have half the cupboards in, so at least SOME progress has been made. Yay?
Oh and Charlie is like a different baby. Yes, I know we were only away for 4 days but it's like he's a toddler now. By next week he'll be married and have a mortgage.
Since I know everyone comes here for some Charlie, here's a video! Apparently paper ripping is hilarious (and yes, I totally stole the idea from youtube.) It's insanely out of focus, but the cute is quite clear with this one.

I have an excuse
I was told today that "I suck at blogging" (thanks KARA!). And, yeah. Totally guilty there.
But I DO have excuses. Starting last week our kitchen went from this
to this
That's some Mike Holmes shit - that's what that is.
My suggestion for anyone out there? Do home renovations BEFORE having a baby. (Although since 100% of you reading this already have babies, that's a little late.) The whole caring for a baby thing + taking care of 2 dogs + having incessant banging/sawing/squeaking going on throughout the day? Not fun. And it's only been 7 days.
I am slowly going crazy 1-2-3-4-5-6 switch....
Luckily the weather's improving so we can get out of the house.
Look! Flowers!
I'll try my best to improve. (Just for you Kara!)

We have a word, people!
So, he hasn't quite figured out who his Mama is (he's considering asking Maury for help), but so far he's called me, Jimmy, the fridge and Oprah "mama".
I hope this doesn't lead to therapy later.
Here's one of his best!
He's off to university next week, at this rate.

Still figuring things out
I've been slow catching on to this whole "blogging" thing (if you haven't noticed). I think I'm still kind of trying to figure out what I want to talk about.
I could very well just use this as a venue to show off the cuteness that is Charlie, but I feel like I put up all of his adorable pictures on Facebook already, so it would be redundant for a lot of you. (Unless there's a lot of secret readers that aren't my Facebook friends that I don't know about? SHOW YOURSELVES!)
I could also just ramble on about ridiculous thoughts that enter my head.
Like.... why, when people have an "addiction" do they add -aholic to the end? (example: "I'm such a shopaholic!") I get that they're taking it from "alcoholic", but those are people that are addicted to alcohol. The -hol is part of the original word. So REALLY, we should only be adding the -ic to the ends of the things we're addicted to ("I'm such a shopic.")
You know?
No?
Ok. I'm guessing nobody will want to hear more of those ramblings. So I'll talk about Charlie!
It's starting to get (relatively) nice here lately, so Charlie's enjoying more outside time. We had a little photo shoot on the grass in our backyard.
I was so happy to finally get a shot of his teeth! He was loving just looking around at the trees and grass. He even had some lay in the sun time.
Ok, so he might have just fallen over here.
Then we went over to my parents the next day to hang out and we had another photo shoot. Seriously, this kid probably thinks people's faces just have huge black lenses coming out of them.
My dad just bought himself one of those fancy pants cameras and it takes amazing shots. Evidence:
I have a feeling we're going to have a lot more shoots now that the weather's getting nicer/the child is way more agreeable to the whole thing. So get ready to see a LOT more of Charlie!

Officially Introducing Charlie (204 days late)
On September 8th, 2010 I looked like this:
2 days later on September 10th at 11:10pm, this guy, weighing 9lbs 12oz, entered the world:
Simple right?
I won't bore everyone with my long-winded, gory, hyperbolic account of my birth story. I'll just say that this kid will be hearing about it.
For the rest of his life.
Every mother's day.
And birthday.
It both seems like ages ago that he arrived, but also that it's gone so fast. A confusing statement that I'm sure other moms can understand.
But it's crazy to think that a little guy that just 6.5 months ago was this (not so) tiny blob of cuteness
now is a little person with a personality. And funny facial expressions. And a sense of humour.
I didn't say it was a normal sense of humour.

Jumping is serious (puffy-faced) business
I know I haven't formally e-introduced Charlie yet (but really, who are we kidding? Most of you know him anyway.) And I will, soon enough.
But first ...
I needed to share his new jumping face (new as of today).
Apparently jumping makes his face go like this:
As soon as he stops jumping, he's like
But then he goes back to jumping and

Since I'm doing introductions..
I thought I'd tell you a bit about my little family, a member at a time (teehee....member). Today's intro will be about my husband, Jimmy.
This is the first picture I ever saw of Jimmy.
I thought he looked like Clark Kent, which is what I called him whenever talking about him with my friends. "I've got a date with Clark Kent tonight!" We met on lavalife (a Canadian dating site) which I was kind of embarrassed to tell people at first. But now I realize, I don't really care if people think I'm a dork.
We met in February of 2007. By December 2007 we had bought our first house together. By February 2008 we were engaged, and by November of the same year, married.
Obviously I could talk for hours about him but really two pictures can sum up the kind of guy he is. He's the type of husband to get this cake made for my birthday.
And also the type of guy, when his (very pregnant) wife asks for apples and cheese to snack on, comes back with this and a big grin on his face.
Basically he's a very large kid. And I love it.
(Yes, both of my examples were food related. I like food. You'll catch on.)

Oh, hello there!
I've taken the plunge and started a blog. Not that I feel I have anything too important to say, but I figured it might prevent me from having verbal diarrhea on the various social mediums I use right now. I'll just have verbal diarrhea here! Excited?
I've now said diarrhea twice on my first ever blog posting. Success.
I'll keep this intro simple and just explain the blog name. Before Charlie was Charlie, Jimmy and I would refer to him as Hammy. My husband has the habit of singing songs about ham and pork. All the time. Making up songs, inserting the words into other songs. It's weird.
So since ham was a favourite word, our new favourite person became Ham.
Since I'll probably ramble about Charlie a lot, I'll be giving you a glimpse into "Ham"'s life, a slice at a time! Hope you enjoy.
